Media Destruction

Think you can safely toss your digital media after erasing it?

Think again. The ability to permanently delete data from your digital media is a fallacy. It does nothing but provide you with a false sense of security that identity thieves love to exploit. Sensitive data can still be recovered and stolen from a wiped USB drive or backup tape as long as it remains intact. Media shredding is the only way to permanently destroy data stored on your tapes and hard drives.

Secure Media Destruction Services

Our media shredding services allow you to dispose your data with confidence. We offer hard drive destruction as well as shredding of other digital media, such as:

  • USB drives
  • CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray disks
  • Microfilm
  • Microfiche
  • Floppy disks
  • Zip disks

From the moment your media is collected until you receive our Certificate of Destruction, The Data Vault ensures your digital information remains securely in our hands.

Our Destruction Process

Our media shredding process makes certain your data is never compromised. All media shredding takes place on-site at your facility so you never have to worry about confidential data leaving your premises. The Data Vault’s screened media destruction team visits your location in our state-of-the-art mobile destruction vehicle, “The Data Shark.” Equipped with the latest media destruction technology, The Data Shark shreds your media to tiny particles while you watch. We give you a Certificate of Destruction when your shredding project is completed, and all destroyed media is properly recycled.

One-Time or Scheduled Media Destruction

Whether you’ve been accumulating expired media for years or simply need recurring service, The Data Vault can help. We offer both one-time and scheduled media shredding services. First, we deliver locked destruction bins to your office for the secure collection of your digital media. Then, on an as-needed or scheduled basis, we collect your bins and destroy your media on-site while you watch.

If your business must meet HIPAA, FACTA, SOX or GLB data destruction requirements, we’ll even provide you with a detailed audit trail that includes the following information about your destroyed media:

  • Manufacturer name
  • Type of media
  • Model number
  • Serial number

The Data Vault is here to help you keep thieves from collecting confidential data from your “erased” hard drives.
