Inside TDV - The Data Vault Blog

Earth Day 2016

One of the most visible benefits to living in America is the astounding natural beauty that we’re surrounded by every day. As our population grows, however, efforts to reuse and recycle materials must become a priority in order to preserve these same spaces for future generations to enjoy.

With that in mind, The Data Vault is proud to contribute our time and energy to the cause. As a component of our media and paper shredding services, in 2015 we recycled:

  • 920,000 pounds of paper
  • 10,040 magnetic tape drives and compact discs
  • 3,808 hard drives
  • 800 pounds of assorted electronic waste

Throughout the year, 100% of all material collected through our secure consoles goes to a no waste processing facility after being shredded and large parts of the hard drives that are destroyed can have their precious metals extracted for reuse.

So what all can be made using these recycled materials? Check out this handy infographic to see where all the tin, gold, aluminum, and copper goes after being discarded. With your help, we can all do our part in helping keep our planet a cleaner place for everyone.
