Our New Resource Center: Data Recovery Questions and Answers

“Sometimes even the questions aren’t obvious.”

That’s perhaps the key meaning behind our new Data Recovery Resource Center.

For those investigating a switch to a cloud data recovery solution, it isn’t always easy to identify what question to ask first. And if you don’t know what to ask, it isn’t going to be easy to get to an answer. Or at least not a correct answer. And the correct answer may not be the same for everyone.

Like this one: Do you have a written disaster recovery plan?

Resouce Center ImageSurprisingly, many don’t, especially in the case of smaller companies, but it’s a question every organization should ask. What happens to your business if you can’t access your data for four hours? Or a day? Or a week? This is something you need to know and plan for. As we at TDV Cloud like to say, what is your “disaster tolerance”?

Here’s another one: Is critical data backed up on a frequent and regular basis?

If you have a backup policy, then the answer is yes. But if you are backing up weekly or even monthly, there is a risk that something immediate will be lost. How important are those files from 2007 versus the files from last Thursday? That question may well lead you to re-evaluating your plan.

One more: Are backups located off site?

If you’re using data tapes for your backup solution, where are the tapes stored? Because if they are stored in a lock box in your server room, that might not be a secure solution. Is your IT manager taking the tapes home at night? Also not a secure solution.

The point to all this is that when you visit the Resource Center, we’ll provide a list of questions that may help you get started. From there you can browse our archive of materials that will help you make critical decisions regarding disaster recovery, business continuity planning, cloud-based data recovery, data backup and much more. You will find data sheets, white papers, case studies, infographics, links, blog posts and more to help you find the answers you seek.

For instance, in our Blog Archive there are literally dozens of blog posts containing news, tips, trends, insights and links. And the posts are organized by category and arranged chronologically from newest to oldest. Have a question about securing data in a Bring Your Own Device situation? Look up the BYOD header and choose from a number of blog posts featuring information on how to effectively manage BYOD data.

Our Downloads section similarly includes a long list of PDFs and infographics that will help guide you to the right question and answer. Do you work in healthcare? We have downloads designed specifically to show you cloud data recovery options for healthcare environments.

Our Links section includes links to industry blog and news sites as well as to other resources about data recovery topics.

In summary, the reason we created this Resource Center is because we’re here to help. You have questions, and we have answers. We can help lead you to the answers you need for your organization, be it a data tape storage and rotation solution, a cloud data recovery solution or a hybrid of the two. If you need fast access to recent files but have plenty of data that can be archived, we can help you decide which is which and plan accordingly.

As always, if you have specific questions, don’t hesitate to call us at 502.244.1152, or contact us through this convenient form.
